Space Center Houston Launches VR Simulation Where You Can Experience the Thrill of Being an Unpaid NASA Intern

HOUSTON — Space Center Houston has unveiled a groundbreaking new VR experience that lets visitors step into the high-stakes world of a NASA intern—complete with coffee runs, Excel spreadsheets, and supervisors who forget your name.

Dubbed Intern: Zero Gravity Pay, the simulation promises a “fully immersive” experience of interning at one of the world’s most prestigious space agencies. Users can attend virtual meetings where their mic doesn’t work, receive vague assignments with unclear deadlines, and even get locked out of their email for “security reasons.”

“We wanted to capture the full NASA intern experience,” said VR developer Chad Lovell. “That means long hours, a passion for space, and absolutely no compensation.”

Other features include a “Conference Call Challenge,” where players must stay awake while listening to senior engineers discuss fuel optimization for three hours, and a “Badge Hunt” mini-game where they must find their misplaced security pass before lunch ends.

While some visitors were expecting more rocket launches and astronaut training, the Space Center assures them this is “as real as it gets.”

“We had to cut the part where you wait six months for a response about a full-time job,” Lovell added.
