In an effort to curb the chaos on Houston’s highways, local authorities have announced that all drivers must now pass a mandatory Left Lane Etiquette Class to legally drive on highways. The course, which will be offered at community centers and online, is aimed at teaching the most basic of driving rules: stay out of the left lane unless you’re passing.

“We’ve tried everything—warning signs, honking, even polite gestures,” said Officer Rick Blinker, who spearheaded the initiative. “But some people just don’t get it. It’s time for action.”
The course will cover essential topics such as:
• How to Recognize the Left Lane
• Understanding the Concept of Passing
• How to Use Your Turn Signal Without Losing Your Identity
Critics argue that the class is just another bureaucratic overstep, while others doubt it will actually change anything. “Good luck,” said Houston native Frank Brake, “but these people can’t read signs, let alone understand basic lane rules.”
The class will include a final exam, but based on past Houston driving habits, many suspect the only thing that will be passed is more traffic.
